I love fruit and eat a lot of it. Is it just a no-no on the GI diet, or can you have some?

What are the best fruits to have on this diet. Are there any on the low glycemic side?

Actually, there are a surprising number of fruits that are low GI. Apples, pears, strawberries, lemons, peaches, grapes, grapefruit, cherries - they're all acceptable on the low GI diet, as well as a number of other fruits too. If you look into the diet, I think you'll find it may fit well with your taste for fruit!

Hi skatss

Great list, raspberries and blue berries seem to also work well especially for those who are diabetic or have high sugars

Hey guys

Thanks for the good information here, I have problems with glucose intolerance so the tip about raspberries and blueberries is interesting, I will give them a try.

One thing for sure It has to be the whole fruit not juice

Yep - fruit juice is a definite no-no. The juices are far more densely packed with sugars, and they don't carry all of the positive nutritional elements that the fruit does. You get fiber and some antioxidants from the fruit that you don't get carried over into the juices, so it's a higher-sugar, lower-nutrition alternative every time.

Something to avoid on the low GI diet for sure.

Hi
The trick I use is to eat some carbs with the fruit like rice cake or bread I bake made from quinoa, buckwheat, and spelt.

I also use agave syrup for a sweetener..

This seems to work for me
